Sowing, Watering, Harvesting

Sometimes you sow seeds. Sometimes you water. Sometimes the harvest comes. Last year the Good News Club in Longford kicked off in August. It has been a joy getting to know kids in this small town. The children have always been engaged with what they were learning about Jesus. Yet, there was no response of children wanting to talk further about trusting Jesus as their Savior. So, we kept watering. This year God brought the harvest in a little girl named Rhylee. Rhylee is in third grade and on a day when so many were absent from Good News Club due to COVID, Rhylee had the courage to come and talk about having her sins forgiven. We have since given her a Bible, and she has begun to read it on her own. Praise God from Whom all blessings flow! We pray for many more harvests but are patient in the watering.

While not related to Good News Club, our church recently had its first baptism in a while. It was a joy to see children taking their next step in following Jesus including two who had been in our CEF® holiday clubs.

Part of sowing and watering these days includes being patient as we continue to minister in non-traditional ways to those affected by this pandemic. We are following the easiest path for those who can come in person by meeting outdoors during good weather. Thankfully, that has been most of the school term. A couple times God has cleared up the sky for us just an hour before Good News Club was to start. For those who are ill or who have family members ill, we are delivering a packet called Good News Club @ Home. Sadly, this has happened every week in both clubs as Tasmania, an island of 600,000, is having over 2,000 cases a day now with 40% of those being children and teens. There have been special bonding moments though with non-Christian families as we’ve texted and waved through doors and windows. Good News Club@ Home packets include the Scripture text in the New International Readers Version the lesson of the day is taken from, all the pieces to do a craft, a memory verse, sticker, and some chocolates. While we hate people being sick, it is good to have the Word of God going into homes of non-Christian parents who can see that people who love Jesus care about their family.

Prayer Requests
• Praise God for His saving work on the cross.
• Pray for me as I prepare lessons for an upcoming camp at the end of April.
• Pray for safety for all the campers and leaders.
• Pray for Rhylee to be strong in her faith as she begins her journey with Jesus.

• Pray for families who receive Good News Club @ Home packets that God would work through His Word in the lives of entire families.
• Pray for a final end to the pandemic in Tasmania and around the world.
