Praises & Prayers

Praises

Welcome to October and the fall and all the things I love about the change in weather (in Colorado). I know the news everywhere can be discouraging, I am sadden so often when I’m checking in. HOWEVER, scripture reminds us over and over to have hope. I just looked and printed a list of scriptures on hope for the Remand children.
One of my favorites:
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13
We also know all things are in His control. So as we journey and remind ourselves that all these things must come to past, I must encourage myself in His Word and promises. As we stay encouraged, we stay with our hands to the plow.
Bill has been busy as ever and continues to work with the Korean NGO that we mentioned in the last P&P. They are starting to schedule in mid November on. We will keep you posted on that.

A session for Bill & George for follow up training. Bill was pleased that most had their books and there is progress with the leadership in implementing changes in the churches. On this trip they had several visits to make.

More Praises & Challenges!

The rains continue. There is a lot of flooding throughout Uganda. The rains will come in localized blasts and cause devastation and then the sky’s open up and it looks great and sunny, but the damages can be significant. Hopefully they will start ceasing and the damages will be limiting from here out.
Last week we had rebels cross the border from DRC and everyone was cautioned to not travel unless necessary. It sounded like a larger effort as western regions were affected. “Ugandan forces on Saturday thwarted a series of coordinated attacks by unidentified armed groups targeting military and police installations in the western part of the country, said the Uganda Peoples’ Defense Forces (UPDF).” https://www.independent.co.ug/updf-foils-armed-attacks-in-bundibugyo-kasese-and-fort-portal/
The military will act with swift force to keep the peace. That is the current Presidents appreciated quality, peace.

I’ve been more engaged in Calvary Church with helping Pastor Nicholas organize an effort to get the church engagement off the bench if you will. Much like the US, you find 20% of the people helping in the church and the others on the bench. We will see! A skit and sign up sheets were out recently and of course we have a new year to really hit home the idea of this New Life that we have in Christ, even if we have had this new life for a time.
I am continuing to serve with Remand and love the opportunity to talk about “where does our TRUE Hope come from”. In October there was a big change in the kids as some went home and others went to other facilities. I’m not sure if it is a quarterly event or if it just landed in October. It can be very easy to misunderstand here even with repetitive questioning. Like with most of life we will continue to learn, and sometimes it can be painful!
We did co-host and helped organize a Marriage Retreat which straddled Oct-November. We came home on Saturday. Such a great opportunity in many ways. May we all submit to one another. So much easier said than done!!

Always tricky here with helping because people are not timely. For the most part it went really well. The retreat was not far from home in a hidden gem of a place. Everyone has to save their coins to attend and/or get some sponsorship. We are always aware of to the degree we help, or not knowing there is a fine line. We trust He is always leading and guiding.

Prayers

 Please continue to pray for the new staff at FMLK to be honest and up-right, including the Chicken House crew!! Prayer that the unseen is seen!!
 Pray for another couple of streams of funding for FMLK. This is an ongoing prayer. We certainly see God providing from these young Spanish volunteers and even in this there are parameters and stops. Please keep the relationship in prayer between the founders of both groups. With year end coming, it will be a transition time.
 Pray we stay healthy.
 Please continue to pray as Bill teaches at the 3 churches and now this opportunity with the Korean ministry. Also pray that more of the young Christian adults would be willing to be trained in godly leadership. Too many just want money and are not willing to do success God’s way.
 Please pray as I work with the Remand House (youth detention center), that it is part of His Kingdom building and not just an activity. I’m using scripture to assist in teaching English! Pray that they hear where their help can come from.
 Pray for the Muslim woman I love and having great Spiritual conversations with and that it is all worthy of her considering Christ. Her husband has rejected her and they are now living apart, not sure of all the details but very messy!
 Pray as we serve to see with Spiritual eyes and boldness in these days. Pray that our every effort will make God known and pleasing to Him.
 Pray as Bill works with Robert who is in agreement to work with the FMLK Chapel. He is new to “truth teaching” but is willing and teachable. Praise God that he is there to learn and this will impact many long term!!
