Howeths’ Uganda Journey

Praises

So, so many praises for 2025!! We are so grateful to all for praying, sending funds and believing in this journey God has us on!! We wanted to summarize where your donations are being spent and give you a glimpse of 2026 and where we see God moving and where our hearts are. Aside of this list, financially we have your help in staying here which is amazing!!

2025 Here is a sample of where we are spending not only time and money but also where our hearts are connected!!

· Feed My Lamb Kabarole both monthly, some incidentals if led by the Spirit and projects that you all have given to so generously. Of course we continue to wait for the rains to cease so we can continue to build the Girls Dorm.
· 3 pastors we are giving monthly stipends knowing they are working the fields and are Truth teaching.
· All of Bills training materials, travel, and expenses are paid for from your funding, including engaging translators, and their fees.
· One of Bills students started his own CBO and is engaged with the youth here. We give him a monthly stipend.
· Remand-all the materials Debra uses are paid through the funds you have provided including the “sweets” for Sweet Saturday!
· We have supported Brian through (pace maker at 33 years old) several calls for funding for medical assistance. We intend to provide a monthly stipend in 2026. His medical needs exceed the average monthly salary. He just had a major medical need in Nairobi days ago.
NOTE: All the stipends and support do not exceed a threshold which if we were taken out of the picture, would leave a gap. They are enough to help and encourage the brethren.

End of year call:

We would like to surprise a local women who is working with several schools and could use some support in items used for the school training children in gardening. Our goal for is 3M UGX or approximately $850.00.

2026 Is almost here!!
We will be celebrating 10 years mid January!
It seems impossible but I promise it is true!!

We intend to continue to same efforts in 2026 that are laid out above. The gardening call is a one time effort. In addition this is where we will be sending out some additional funding requests in the near future.

· Calvary Chapel Church is starting a building project as the location has some aged buildings. It will be a container church! Each container is $5,000 and there will be a total of 15. You can send funding for tax purposes this year if desired and we will hold the funds until they start on it soon.
· The pastors are now required to be certified and we want to support Nicholas at CCFP for pastor certification (Cavalry
Chapel Fort Portal). We don’t know the amount but should soon.
· We have a funding call into the church we attend, our intention is to add to our student support list for Secondary and trade school candidates. If the church fully funds this effort that would be 3 additional students above what we are doing now. If it isn’t fully funded we would use these additional funds for adding to the 5 total or adding students. (Whichever the math supports. Appx 3M per yr or $850.00) It’s impossible for most families to afford schooling.

Please join us in covering these plans and desires, praying with and for us as we continue to trust in His excellent Will!!

“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together,
as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see The Day approaching.” Hebrews 10:24-25

Praises & Prayers

Praises

Welcome to October and the fall and all the things I love about the change in weather (in Colorado). I know the news everywhere can be discouraging, I am sadden so often when I’m checking in. HOWEVER, scripture reminds us over and over to have hope. I just looked and printed a list of scriptures on hope for the Remand children.
One of my favorites:
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13
We also know all things are in His control. So as we journey and remind ourselves that all these things must come to past, I must encourage myself in His Word and promises. As we stay encouraged, we stay with our hands to the plow.
Bill has been busy as ever and continues to work with the Korean NGO that we mentioned in the last P&P. They are starting to schedule in mid November on. We will keep you posted on that.

A session for Bill & George for follow up training. Bill was pleased that most had their books and there is progress with the leadership in implementing changes in the churches. On this trip they had several visits to make.

More Praises & Challenges!

The rains continue. There is a lot of flooding throughout Uganda. The rains will come in localized blasts and cause devastation and then the sky’s open up and it looks great and sunny, but the damages can be significant. Hopefully they will start ceasing and the damages will be limiting from here out.
Last week we had rebels cross the border from DRC and everyone was cautioned to not travel unless necessary. It sounded like a larger effort as western regions were affected. “Ugandan forces on Saturday thwarted a series of coordinated attacks by unidentified armed groups targeting military and police installations in the western part of the country, said the Uganda Peoples’ Defense Forces (UPDF).” https://www.independent.co.ug/updf-foils-armed-attacks-in-bundibugyo-kasese-and-fort-portal/
The military will act with swift force to keep the peace. That is the current Presidents appreciated quality, peace.

I’ve been more engaged in Calvary Church with helping Pastor Nicholas organize an effort to get the church engagement off the bench if you will. Much like the US, you find 20% of the people helping in the church and the others on the bench. We will see! A skit and sign up sheets were out recently and of course we have a new year to really hit home the idea of this New Life that we have in Christ, even if we have had this new life for a time.
I am continuing to serve with Remand and love the opportunity to talk about “where does our TRUE Hope come from”. In October there was a big change in the kids as some went home and others went to other facilities. I’m not sure if it is a quarterly event or if it just landed in October. It can be very easy to misunderstand here even with repetitive questioning. Like with most of life we will continue to learn, and sometimes it can be painful!
We did co-host and helped organize a Marriage Retreat which straddled Oct-November. We came home on Saturday. Such a great opportunity in many ways. May we all submit to one another. So much easier said than done!!

Always tricky here with helping because people are not timely. For the most part it went really well. The retreat was not far from home in a hidden gem of a place. Everyone has to save their coins to attend and/or get some sponsorship. We are always aware of to the degree we help, or not knowing there is a fine line. We trust He is always leading and guiding.

Prayers

 Please continue to pray for the new staff at FMLK to be honest and up-right, including the Chicken House crew!! Prayer that the unseen is seen!!
 Pray for another couple of streams of funding for FMLK. This is an ongoing prayer. We certainly see God providing from these young Spanish volunteers and even in this there are parameters and stops. Please keep the relationship in prayer between the founders of both groups. With year end coming, it will be a transition time.
 Pray we stay healthy.
 Please continue to pray as Bill teaches at the 3 churches and now this opportunity with the Korean ministry. Also pray that more of the young Christian adults would be willing to be trained in godly leadership. Too many just want money and are not willing to do success God’s way.
 Please pray as I work with the Remand House (youth detention center), that it is part of His Kingdom building and not just an activity. I’m using scripture to assist in teaching English! Pray that they hear where their help can come from.
 Pray for the Muslim woman I love and having great Spiritual conversations with and that it is all worthy of her considering Christ. Her husband has rejected her and they are now living apart, not sure of all the details but very messy!
 Pray as we serve to see with Spiritual eyes and boldness in these days. Pray that our every effort will make God known and pleasing to Him.
 Pray as Bill works with Robert who is in agreement to work with the FMLK Chapel. He is new to “truth teaching” but is willing and teachable. Praise God that he is there to learn and this will impact many long term!!

Praises & Prayers

Greetings from the last P&P with Publisher. That is the software that I use that I love for these newsletters that are with all these bells and whistles that I mentioned before. I had in my head that it was August that they were stopping the app but it’s October.
This helps me a lot because this is a known software app to me and to be honest I haven’t had the time to go practice with Scribus yet like I need to. All those things (forced changes) come as you have to, is my experience. The next one I’m sure I’ll have to use Scribus.
Of course the beat goes on and the days seem short and at warp speed as we look to the hills where our help comes from. I continue to think about the scripture I sent in the June email.
Matthew 24:21-22 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened.
It certainly seems to me that there is so, so much going on in this season. Is it that the Lord is doing some things we may not understand with time, with people with whatever He desires? Right!! His will, His way, Yahweh!
It seems like there is so much going on here too that we have to keep our heads straight. Granted though, we had about 5-6 weeks of crazy here on the property that displaced us as we packed everything up. We are grateful the landlady wants to take care of her property and we are more than grateful that she is so very good to us and has been unlike other landlords. So many horror stories.

UPDATE: You might remember The DORM is on hold as mentioned before because of the rains. Clare did reserve some materials and will start once the rains start to cease. Not sure how to time that but I’ll let her handle all of that. She’s received enough funds to start the purchasing. As soon there is anything we will update you.
The September rains are (relatively) not bad but October is torrential including as I type this, it rages. Lots of thunder and lightening. The Princess dog is so adverse with a bad start in life with fireworks early on in her puppyhood. Oh the troubles of four leggers.
Of course I must update you on the babies!! Blessings to be part of these little ones lives. I know I’ve mentioned I see Rinnah and Nava so much more than Ivan and Aaron. Ivan has just recently started joining me at The Remand Home where I’m teaching English to the youth that are incarcerated. So I’ve had more opportunities to see Evelyn and Aaron because his house is on the way.

Evelyn, Ivan and Aaron

Bill has tilled the ground a long time. And the fruit is coming. He’s been presented with a lot of opportunities!! We thank God for this new season to see some growth. He spoke at CCFP and a Korean couple heard him and then brought the boss of the NGO that they work for. He immediately had Bill go out to the “Crusade” that was schedule a few kilometers from the house. Bill was the first speaker with Nicholas translating for him
As you might imagine Bill was delighted and the false teachers were not. Long story short, looks like the ministry has a number of opportunities that will take Bill west of here in a concentrated area teaching the biblical true Gospel to the leaders and pastors. It’s like a little gold mine of opportunities. Pray for hearts and ears!!

Bill and Nicholas had an opportunity to speak at a “Crusade”, anytime you hear that here, you are assured it is 99.9% false teaching.

For a little more understanding, the Spanish team is branching out yet still will be involved with FMLK but is also taking the volunteers to new schools. One of the hardest parts is that the kids are the ones that don’t understand so we are trying to address the ability for them to work without having the children impacted!
 Pray we stay healthy.
