GRACE CHRISTIAN OUTREACH MINISTRIES July 2021

New email: [email protected]

PRIORITIES

Dear Friends,

God bless all of you! The last couple of weeks, due to circumstances happening around me, I have been thinking a lot about the uncertainty of life. The Bible tells us in James 4:14 “You do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.”As we go through our daily lives,

it is important to keep front and center in our minds the priority of living our lives intentionally to plant as many seeds in people’s lives about salvation through Jesus Christ. Jesus has brought us to Him not only for us to be forgiven and to go to heaven but for us to bring as many people as possible with us to heaven. The Bible tells us that, “To live is Christ and to die is gain”. Let’s live our lives with eternity in perspective, go out of our comfort zone to impact lives for Christ and be used by God to bring as many people as possible to heaven.

MEXICO

I recently got back from ministering across the Mexican border with fellow missionary, David Wold. The cities that we ministered in were Ciudad Acuna, Nuevo Laredo, Nuevo Progreso, Reynosa and Matamoros. David ministered in many churches on the book of Revelation and the Biblical teaching on the End Times events. In other churches he shared on the 7 Cs –an overview of the Bible in 7 words – and on the Navigator Spiritual Wheel illustration – a discipleship teaching on the foundations of the Christian such as Bible reading, prayer, etc.

The people who attended, many of them pastors and church leaders, were really blessed by the teachings and many will use them in their own ministries. We are currently translating David’s notes on the End Times into Spanish so we can give them to future attendees to study and use in their own ministries. We also held three family outreaches which were a real blessing to the children and their parents. Everyone heard the plan of salvation; we prayed a blessing over the children, and we also prayed over the prayer needs of the adults. Then, the children each received a nice blessing bag! We love to see the look on the children’s face as they not only receive the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ but also see God’s blessing through receiving a blessing bag filled with toys, hygiene items and school supplies!

In Reynosa we ministered in two rehabilitation centers each housing approximately 60 – 80 people. There were both women and men who had been bound to addiction, and many had lived on the street doing desperate things to get the drugs they so greatly desired. In the first rehabilitation center David gave the altar call and over 50 people responded and prayed to give their lives to Christ. I then preached a message and at the end I asked anyone who wanted to surrender everything in their life to Jesus to raise their hand.

PRISON OUTREACH

We also ministered in the prison in Reynosa, Mexico. This prison was much nicer and less oppressive than the previous Mexican prisons I had been in. We had bought 100 bags filled with a toothbrush, toothpaste, and soap into the prison to give to the prisoners who attended the service. In Mexico, the prison does not supply hygiene items so unless you have family who brings these things to you when visiting, you will not receive them. Approximately thirty people attended the service and four people prayed to give their lives to Christ at the altar call. Each prisoner was given an extra Bible and an extra bag of hygiene items to give to someone to use as an evangelism tool.

Please pray for these Christian prisoners to stand strong and to be able to follow God amid these exceedingly difficult circumstances.

COMPUTER ISSUE

Joshua, who is our ministry IT guy, recently gave me the news that the ministry computer is not working because of a short from a faulty power supply that damaged components which were already seven years old. The cost for new parts so that he can fix the computer is $1,500. If you want to help towards the purchase of these computer parts, please memo your check “Computer Parts”.

CRITICAL FINANCIAL UPDATE

Towards the middle of this last ministry trip the ministry finances took a substantial dip which has been a real challenge for us in meeting the needs of the ministry. These dry spells hit us from time to time, out of nowhere. Right now, the ministry is running $2,500 + under budget. If you would pray for God to help us financially during this time, we would appreciate it. If God leads you to help us to make up what we have been short for this month that would be a blessing as well! We know that God knows our needs and will help us through this time. He is always faithful! Thanks for all that all of you do to help GCOM bring people to Christ, make disciples, train leaders, build churches, distribute literature and whatever else is needed to impact lives for Christ! We appreciate you so much!

Serving Christ,

Rev. Kevin, Sylvia and Joshua Rosendahl

PRAYER NEEDS

-Pray for Sylvia who has been battling health issues the past month. She has had on and off vertigo combined with head and neck pain and plugged ears but no congestion. Doctors right now think it is due to an issue with the occipital nerve in the back of her neck.

−Pray for our finances to come in abundantly to meet every financial need

−Pray for the funds to come in for Joshua to be able to buy the computer parts to fix the ministry computer

−Pray for all the new believers who came to Christ during the last ministry trips to continue to become strong disciples of Christ

MINISTRY NEEDS

−Computer parts for Joshua to repair the ministry computer – $1,500 (There is a semiconductor shortage and crypto currency mining which has led to high demand and low supply inflating prices which will last until next year}

−People to come down and help the ministry beginning next fall. We need people to do movie evangelism, deliver Gospel literature and Bibles to key cities on the Mexican border and there are many more ministry opportunities according to the gifts and talents that God has given to you

HOSPITAL PROJECT

On 8 June 2021, the crew of Duamenefa Foundation of Fafaa 100.3 FM, Dzodze along with several pastors traveled to the Keta Municipal Hospital to bring donations of needed items to the facility.Dr. David Kotey Nutakor –California, USA, in memory of his late Father, Leonard Besa Gbede Nutakor and his late Mother, Sabina Atsemuyo Evortepe believes in the work of the Keta Municipal Hospital and has donated each quarter. Dr. Nutakor has a heart for the children’s ward and has made them a priority for help.To summarize the projects which have been completed, the first three phases include:

Phases 1-3The purchase, installation and dish hookup of a 65” flat screen television. This was completed in March, 2020. Painting the whole Children’s Ward, inside and out with bright colors to give an overall better environment for the children while admitted. This was completed in July 2020 giving the ward a cheery look.

Curtains were sewn to cover all 53 windows in the ward; completed by the first week of November, 2020. Duamenefa Foundation of Fafaa FM under the leadership of its Executive President, Emmanuel Ketaman Evortepe, discussed the needs in the male ward and made the decision to support this all-important area.

The benevolence started with the purchase of four-32” televisions with satellite hookup, so the men who had to stay and recover, could keep up with the happenings in the news. These were presented to the hospital in November, 2020 along with the commissioning of the work done in the children’s ward.

Quarter 1, 2021, the needs were directed to the parents of the children who are admitted to the hospital. There was no place for the parents to lay their heads while they tended overnight to their children, so a donation of 20 high-density student mattresses was made for this purpose. For the male ward, the request from the hospital was listed.

Covid-related items. The purchase of electric hand-dryers, touchless sanitizer dispensers and bottles of sanitizer along with hundreds of hand towels were made. All the items were handed over to the Medical Supervisor, Dr. Antoinette Ekuban; the Administrator, Mr. Aforbu and the good people of the Keta Hospital in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost.Supporting the local hospitals, whether they are government-run or private institutions, is vital to the intervention of lives.

With the strong and committed support of Dr. David Kotei Nutakor and the Duamenefa Foundation of Fafaa 100.3 FM, Keta Municipal Hospital will be forever cared for.

VOCATIONAL SCHOOL BUILDING PROJECT

It is so very special when we can watch as God provides for His perfect will.Last quarter, the land was cleared and blocks were being molded.

In just one quarter, all the drawings, elevations, and transference of land was made. The paperwork was processed at the government offices and our building permit was approved. Now for our groundbreaking ceremony and the digging will commence.

We set a target of 10,000 blocks and have reached the halfway point. Two large truckloads of gravel will be delivered immediately as we are ready for foundations to begin. By the end of the third quarter, we will see something very different than piles of blocks and empty land.

INTERVENTION TO SAVE A LIFE

About nine years ago, within Dalikorpe, Dzodze in the Ketu North Municipality of the Volta Region, a very strange growth, began to appear in between the face and neck area of a beautiful young 23-year-old woman named Esinam Gawu.According to Esinam, one day a family friend came to inform her that Mr. Sorkpa Kangaru confessed publicly that he is responsible for her strange sickness. The Gawu family quickly sent Agbota Gawu to inquire from Mr. Sorkpa Kangaru if the said allegation was true. Mr. Sorkpa confirmed to the family delegation that he truly manipu-lated the Juju powers on his cocoyam plantation with the intention to harm anybody who attempted to pluck the cocoyam leaves.

According to Mr. Sorkpa Kangaru, Esinam plucked the leaves, hence she is suffering the consequences of the juju powers he contracted for. He requested that the family of Esinam should produce certain items to pacify the gods and to reverse the juju powers. The family claimed they provided the items to Mr. Sorkpa and he allegedly performed the rituals on two different occasions, yet the rituals could not yield the desire results.According to Esinam, the family support-ed her to seek expert medical attention at the Ridge Hospital, Accra, where the first operation of three was carried out to remove the growth, but the growth resurfaced rapidly after all the operations; hence, the family thought it wise to petition the Duamenefa Foundation for investigation and intervention.

The Duamenefa crew conducted undercover investigations into the matter to ascertain the veracity of the allegations. During interrogations on-air on Fafaa 100.3 FM, Mr. Sorkpa admitted again to the aforementioned allegations.

He was educated by the retired NCCE Director of Ketu, Mr. Francis Gota, on the provisions of the 1992 Constitution in the regards to this matter and was advised to reverse the juju powers under the supervision of his traditional ruler, Togbi Dali III or be handed over to the police for causing harm. Mr. Sorkpa agreed on air, but unfortunately Sorkpa turned around to inform Togbi Dali III that he could not trace the fetish priest who initiated him with the demonic power, hence it would be difficult for him to heal the woman.

Mr. Sorkpa has since run away from the community due to the police’s request. Meanwhile, the growth keeps increasing to a dangerous stage and her family claimed they are financially handicapped to undertake another medical venture. The health condition of Esinam is rapidly deteriorating and now she can hardly breathe and finds it very difficult to eat food or drink water. She is living between life and death. The Duamenefa Foundation of Fafaa FM is calling on all relevant stakeholders to help save the life of Madam Esinam Gawu by donating toward another surgery to relieve her. The intervention to locate Mr. Kangaru Sorkpa is now a public responsibility.

Prayer request from Rick, Maricruz and Daniel

Dear Friends,

I can’t believe July is here already. June was a difficult month for us. When we went to pick Daniel up after his YWAM graduation we were in a car accident. We were at a stop when we were rear ended by a car doing 40 MPH. Daniel being a young man is now doing fine. Yesterday we took Maricruz to see a surgeon. Mari has 3 herniated discs in her neck pushing on her spinal cord. Mari is having a very difficult time sleeping and she is in a lot of pain. Tomorrow we go for a second opinion with another surgeon.

I’m still healing up myself. I’m dealing with whiplash and all my activities are affected. My low back is out and it takes everything I have just to move about. We would appreciate your prayers.

The Radio ministry continues to be a blessing. While we are healing up most of the radio programing is automated.

The three of us will be back in Oregon August 19th. We look forward to seeing Family and Friends.

I hoped to have more to report. Rest and recovery is what we need most at this time.

Thank You for your prayers.

Love Rick Maricruz and Daniel
