Luke describes one event that other evangelists do not. That is when two of Jesus’ disciples were returning from Jerusalem after Jesus was crucified. A stranger joined them on the road but they could not recognize him because their eyes were holden. Later, when he was breaking the bread with them, they recognized him but he became invisible to them. In another stance he appeared to another disciple, this time on the riverbank. We see this line how Jesus encourages his disciples through personal appearance. He was training them that he was always near. He could suddenly appear and as suddenly disappear. These were tiny pieces of confirmation for them. That is what we experience as we see him through different events and people.

One man said during our class that every honest scientist would recognize the existence of God who is a person, not just matter, who created and maintains everything. We had a more in-depth discussion after that. That is just one more example for us to see how God is working among and around these people. We also see the thorny soil that hinder those little seeds from growing. Continue to pray for this ESL community that everyone would have a spiritual hunger for the truth. Pray that everyone will get saved.

This Sunday we are going to celebrate Easter here. It is a big day here and people are starting to be more sensitive to spiritual things. Please pray that those invited would come to the Easter services. Pray that those who came would listen to the Word with keenness.

Disciples of Jesus fulfill His will. Joseph from Arimathaea was not among the twelve when Jesus was walking on this earth. He is not mentioned elsewhere in the canonical Bible. Yet when the time came, he came up on the scene, went all the way to Pilat to ask for the body. He also gave his new tomb for the burial of Jesus. He used his position and fortune to glorify the Lord by properly burying the body. As we preach the gospel here, we encounter such people who may not come to every Bible study group but who may fulfill his commands daily to make him happy. It is amazing how the Lord shows his work among the unreached.

We continued our meetings with our students. It is so nice to see how the Lord is working in and around their lives. We heard stories recently how someone came to Christ among their relatives. Other times we heard that someone’s husband used to be in contact with the Christians. All these portray to us the scope and extent to which God is working around them. Continue to pray for this ESL community that everyone would have a spiritual hunger for the truth. Pray that they all be saved and rooted in a local church.

Aidar is a man who grew up in the Soviet Union. He went to the army to serve standard 2-year mandatory service. In the army he first heard the gospel from a man who was finishing his term. After this, he had a long 30+ years wandering in the world until one day a friend of his invited him to our For All Club. He got saved a few months later. Now he helps with our For All Club. Pray for this man to discern his spiritual gift and praise the Lord with it.
Please pray for our summer plans so that we could discern his leading for the upcoming summer. Could you also pray for $300 that we need to pay for websites and hosting for this year to keep us running.

Greetings from a beautiful not super rainy nor did it get super dry in Jan or February. The weather has been a blessing. The rains now are just starting to get a little heavier but that’s to be expected. We didn’t get the over the top dry either in December or January is when it is generally that way. I feel blessed with the way it has rolled out. Life stays busier than I plan most of the time and I tried to step back a bit in the last months but it just stays busy. Bill’s training schedule has just gotten a big bump and seems there is even some scheduled sessions that stay, and not like we are used to with the continued slipping and sliding. In January we had the elections here with several weeks that everyone goes to the polls. The presidential was mid-Jan, with the next three weeks being elections of some sort. I don’t really know what each of the classifications are but I’m sure much like most governmental structures, but they just delay different segments. The networks were taken down somewhere around 4-5 days with lingering challenges as they brought it back online. A little painful. We did hear of unrest and some clashes with fatalities. We are buffered from most of that where we live, so far from the capital city of Kampala. The presidential voting was on Jan 15th, and on that day we had to let our precious Mootska go. His organs and intake of food was to the point he would have gone soon, even if we hadn’t had to vet come to allow him to let go. All of that is very hard for us. We know some of you don’t have any appreciation for cats, or maybe dogs too. We just love our four leggers and it great to see the Ugandans that work for us love them as well. Sad, we are glad he is free from pain.
Above: Our hearts break when we have to let our pets go. 15th January we had to let Mootska go.
More Praises & Challenges!
You might be one of those guys or gals that look at the photo of the Girls Dorm location wonder, that’s a lot of foundation for a building like the one story for a girls dorm. Yep, FMLK decided, when, I don’t know, to do a multistory building! They didn’t check with me, which I guess they really are not required to but that is not what we fundraised for! We will see how far the monies go that were raised and continue to dance with FMLK/Clare!? One of the helpful situations is our Spanish friends were here in February. Gibi and Clare did kiss and make up per se. I know he is still committed to help FMLK so maybe they can help with this project. One challenge is the funds we raised will not fully cover the first floor. With that change, the need of the heavier load on the foundation, will require additional funds. I’ll keep you posted. It is how they build here. Build while you have funds and then quit. Repeat! Stay tuned. The other project you sponsored, The Gardening Equipment was fully funded! A wonderful surprise for Jojo. One school is up on the Riff Valley Rim, extremely beautiful. Higher elevations, drier at the top of the rim and warmer. The other two schools received less with Jojo determining what went where. Delivering to the Rift Valley, the school kids just love her and connect with the project! They had such fun showing us the small seedlings that had already started to come up that they had planted. That community is deep village, very poor, is not traditional, but an activity school with the intent to teach skills that can help to sustain them long term. The other two schools I didn’t see . I’ll visit again in the future.
GIRLS DORM They have started!! They are further than this, I didn’t’ have time to get out this past week but they have started pouring cement, over the iron bars not seen here.
I plan to go out and maybe take Bill with me if he can fit it in, to this Crane Angel School. I would love to speak into those serving there and see how they’re doing re: truth teaching since they seemed interested. There is also another school we’re invited to that we need to see. My heart is for the youth and the challenges that they face in a time of crazy technology and politics. The Chinese have already helped Uganda rollout the cameras countrywide. I don’t think they are all working yet but we know that technology is here and widely being deployed. These children need to understand where true Hope comes from while there is time!! I’m not an alarmist but I’m very much a realist and horizon watcher. It seems that the time is always getting so close as we see news and align with His Word!! What an exciting time to be alive!
Prayers
PLEASE PRAY as we fundraise for Brian and the replacement battery for his pace maker. Our goal will be $5,500 US and without hesitation will give everything that comes in if we exceed that. The timeline is short, he has less than 4 months to fundraise $25,000 Pray for our relationships with FMLK as they are strained right now as well. I helped the Spanish volunteer contact to vacate the house which belongs to FMLK. That seems to be an issue. In keeping diligent I recorded everything so there is a reference. I’m very disappointed in some of the recent communications. Pray we stay healthy!! Praise Him that we’ve been. Definitely feel the age more today than yesterday but I believe we also need to learn to throttle as we continue here. Please continue to pray as Bill teaches at the 3 churches and now this opportunity with the Korean ministry that seems to be going so well and lots on the horizon. Please pray as I work with the Remand House, with CCFP and helping in some small ways behind the scenes with coordination of some of the activities and efforts towards a serving church. Pray as I work with Clare now with the Dorm starting! I haven’t committed to FMLK re:Art & Bible. I’m holding now for a few reasons. Pray for the Muslim woman I love and having great Spiritual conversations with and that it is all worthy of her considering Christ. Pray as we serve to see with Spiritual eyes and boldness in these days. Pray that our every effort will make God known and pleasing to Him. Pray as Bill tries to work with Robert hoping to handover FMLK to him to run with the chapel completely in 2026 and if not Robert, then another worthy candidate. Please pray as we prepare for the fall USA trip end of August in-to September. The car that was loaned to us the last two visits is not available this time. Please pray we find a loner to use to help facilitate getting around without the added expense of a rental car. Prayer for health, the right everything and no covid as we travel across the globe!
We have been reading different accounts of Jesus’s birth from different gospels this month. What can we learn about missions from them? God co-works with his people to achieve his goals. There were Simeon and Anna, a prophetess who day and night prayed for the coming of the Messiah. In the same way he needs us to promote his work on this earth today. That is why our prayer meetings are vitally important. If God’s people pray, he moves.
“For All” Club
All the people who usually come to this club came in December. One man expressed his amazement when someone he knew came to the Lord which he had thought would never come. So, we see that the Holy Spirit is working in the hearts. Pray for the regular visitors that they would hunger for spiritual bread. We know for sure one barrier that many of them could not step over – their families. Pray that each of them meets the Lord and start to walk with him. We praise the Lord for this great opportunity to spend fruitful time sharing the Gospel in a creative way.
Praise and Prayer Points
We praise the Lord for his opportunity to visit Christians in Xinjian, China. Please pray for leaders in Xinjian and Gansu provinces. Pray that they would stand strong in the Lord. We also praise the Lord for our Christmas services. New people came to almost every church and group. Pray that each of them would start reading the Bible. Also, pray for our annual need of $300 to be covered for our websites and hosting.
